Behind the brand is a powerhouse, Harmonie Essome. A native of Cameroon, she founded House of Bluecherry to encourage all women, men, and diverse individuals of every origin, skin color, and religion to embrace their beauty. She wants them to feel comfortable with their natural hair as well as with wigs. "I don't want women, men, or diverse individuals to have to choose between a hairstyle to feel beautiful, because everything is possible. It doesn't have to be either/or – you are always beautiful, no matter what hairstyle you wear, no matter what you look like. Everyone is beautiful in their own way."

Feeling beautiful and sharing that feeling with those around her was something Harmonie learned early on from her mother in Cameroon. Even when she moved to Germany with her father at the age of seven, the idea of always feeling beautiful stayed with her, even in a completely new world where she first had to find her way. Various hairstyles helped her with this. They constantly emphasized to her that hair is a big part of her culture and that she can feel great and beautiful with or without a wig. Sharing this feeling, this strength, regardless of how you feel most beautiful, is what defines Harmonie and the brand.
